6. Competent market surveillance authority

The federal states are currently setting up a joint body to carry out the tasks of the Accessibility Improvement Act.

The Market Surveillance Authority of the German States for the Accessibility of Products and Services (MLBF) is scheduled to begin operations as a new public law institution in Saxony-Anhalt, in the state capital of Magdeburg, on June 28, 2025. This is subject to the ratification of the interstate treaty on the fulfillment of its duties under the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG) by all federal states. All states are currently creating the necessary conditions for this.

7. Arbitration board and procedure

The Federal Government Commissioner for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities maintains an arbitration board. The arbitration board is tasked with resolving conflicts between persons with disabilities and private federal economic actors.

You can contact the arbitration board if you are not satisfied with the answers provided via the contact option mentioned above. The goal is not to find winners or losers. Rather, the arbitration board's goal is to find a solution to a problem jointly and out of court. The arbitration process is free of charge.
